Turkish alloy steel imports increased 46% in July - 3 October 2011

Turkey imported 74,835 tonnes of alloy flat steel in July 2011, a 46% increase on the 51,290t imported in July 2010, Steel Business Briefing learns from data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The country imported 67,363t of alloy steel in June 2011.

Strong demand, especially from the county’s automotive sector, is supporting alloy steel consumption in the country, SBB is told by local sources. Alloy steel imports are expected to remain strong in the coming months.
