Turkey's Borusan Mannesmann wins spiral welded steel pipe tender in Israel

Friday, 04 February 2022

Turkey's largest steel pipe producer Borusan Mannesmann has won a Eur7.4 million spiral welded steel pipe tender in Israel which was arranged by Israel Natural Gas Lines, the company said.

According to a company statement to the public disclosure platform Feb. 3, the pipes will be produced at the company's Gemlik, Bursa works and the shipments will be concluded as of July 2022. The company didn't provide details about the tonnage.

Borusan Mannesmann is increasing its investments both in Turkey and abroad. The company is currently building a pipe service center in Ploiesti, Romania, which will mainly focus on meeting the European automotive sector's special pipe requirements.

This will be the company's second investment in Europe following its investment in Vabarno, Italy. The company's capacity to produce cold-drawn special pipe at its Vobarno plant in Italy is 28,000 mt/year.

The company also has an electric-resistance welded pipe mill in Baytown, Texas, in the US, with a capacity of 300,000 mt/year.

Borusan Mannesmann's Turkish mill capacities are 750,000 mt/year of ERW pipes and 300,000 mt/year of spiral pipes.
