Platts EMEA HRC Assessment Rationale

Thursday, 30 September 2021

S&P Global Platts assessed Northwest European hot-rolled coil at Eur1,050/mt ($1,215.66/mt) ex-works Ruhr Sept. 30, stable.

A German mill source cited offers between Eur1,050-Eur1,100/mt EXW Ruhr from western European mills and an Italian mill source cited tradable value at Eur1,035/mt EXW Ruhr.

Lead times were heard to be shortening slightly from first-quarter 2022 to more spot delivery availability in Q4 this year on a lack of volume intake from auto manufacturers.

HRC market price ranges have been wide, with sources reporting between Eur1,050/mt and Eur1,160/mt EXW Ruhr as buying activity remains muted and prices remain varied between western and eastern Europe.

No data was excluded from the assessment.

This rationale applies to the symbol STHRE00.
